Monsta Cats NFT Weekly Update — November 28, 2021
We’re only 2 days away from launch! Really excited to see Monsta Cats NFT finally take off. Let’s get into it.
⭐ General
What an eventful week it’s been!
From wrapping up our characters to deploying our smart contract, there were a lot of things we work on. During the past 8 weeks, we came a long way. It’s been really fun and energizing but at the same time super tiring. We went from ecstasy to anxiety and everything in between.
Together with my partner, @Pawsitive Monsta we designed over +570 attributes, spent countless hours tweaking changes, establishing a color palette, and setting the overall mood. We’ve also built a website, which now has over 7,000 views and is featured on Awwwards, one of the biggest design meeting points that recognize the talent and effort of the best web designers, developers, and agencies in the world.
We’ve laid out our tier system which has 9 levels ranging from common or Feral all the way to Biohazard, which is our rarest. There are also 13 Legendary Monstas to collect, which are unique 1/1s.
I’m super proud and thankful to have her along this ride. I want to also thank our team @Maleko and @rigs_m for the kick-ass support and work. Our journey has only just begun!
🚨 Scam
Before launching, I wanted to check if the name Monsta Cats was available on Opensea. To my surprise, it was already taken. It had our avatar image, a banner, a description, the whole nine yards. All links pointed to our website, Discord, and Twitter. It only had 16 items in the collection though.
@PawsitiveMonsta noticed that some of the Monsta Cats look familiar and had the idea to check our Discord. And indeed, all the images were copied from our sneak peek channel. We’ve immediately contacted Opensea about the scam and they took it down in less than 24h!
📌 Smart contract
Our smart contract is now live! I’ve spent over 5 days just testing functions.
I’ve learned that they peak during Mondays, trimming off during weekends. Just like a regular auction, a higher gas price means your transaction is more likely to be included in the next block — and too low of a gas price means you might never make it onto the blockchain — which was closer to our case. Our contract went into a pending mode for over 2 hours. It usually takes 5–15 minutes for a regular transaction to process.
One thing that I forgot was to set the minting function on pause. Luckily a total stranger but a fresh member of our community @chilincheese, contacted me on Discord letting me know about it. Apparently, he scans newly deployed contracts and was kind enough to look us up and get in touch. Thank you!

✍️ Medium
I was contemplating the idea of using Medium as our main in-depth update platform for future posts. It’s a lot easier to track progress. We’re going to post regular updates to Discord as always but in a more compressed TLDR form.
The thinking is that you guys should find regular updates much more digestible than having to endlessly scroll in channels to access the information you’re looking for.

We’re going to announce an official Opeansea link tomorrow.
Our minting dapp is already up and running, and you will have access beginning December 1st.
We’ve got a new Legendary Monsta to tease, which we’ll give away once we hit our 25% milestone!
We’ve already begun exploring options for our toy collection. A great thing about 3D models is that they’re super versatile. We’ll share more on this in the following weeks. Expect a sneak peek soon. We’re really excited about the long-term possibilities!
